Monterey Peninsula College Bridge

When Monterey Peninsula College needed to replace a wood framed pedestrian bridge in the heart of their campus they turned to Hohbach-Lewin to act as the Prime Designer. The bridge not only provided a central circulation artery for the Monterey campus, it also provided a pathway for critical utility routing.
After studying multiple options, the college facilities staff and Hohbach-Lewin engineers settled on a steel framed truss solution with a utility level below constructed immediately “downstream” and adjacent to the existing bridge. This allowed the new DSA approved bridge to be constructed without having to temporarily re-rout existing utilities while the new bridge was under construction
