Hohbach-Lewin Protective Services Division Manager, Kyle Haas, S.E. was the Project Manager for the anti-terrorism and seismic design of the Social Security Administration headquarters in Woodlawn, MD.
Seismic, blast, progressive collapse, and vehicle ramming hazards were mitigated for a total building rehabilitation of the existing 10-story, 240,000 square feet Social Security Administration headquarters facility. The seismic evaluation was performed in accordance with ASCE 41 performance-based methodologies and the blast, progressive collapse, and vehicle ramming mitigation were designed utilizing General Services Administration design criteria.
