Hohbach-Lewin principal, Dan Lewin, S.E. was the structural engineer of record for this new $200M replacement hospital. Project scope included a new central Plant, a new four-story nursing wing, a new two-story reviewing lobby with administrative offices, a three-story medical office building, and renovation of multiple support structures including: emergency rooms, cafeteria, pharmacy and laboratories.
80,000 square foot, four-story steel framed medical office building includes ambulatory surgery facilities that opened in the fall of 2007. The structural system was designed to include a future fourth floor build-out.
The project was designed to LEED “Silver” certification standards and received the Mayor's first bold step toward the Sustainability Award.
Faced with a combination of recalcitrant sub-contractors and a rapidly shrinking construction schedule, the Facilities staff at U.C. Davis Medical Center turned to Hohbach-Lewin to provide seismic bracing solutions and to obtain OSHPD approvals for all suspended mechanical and HVAC systems, as well as anchorage of all medical equipment in this new 900,000 square foot thirteen-story facility.
William "Skip" Freet, S.E. Manager of Hohbach-Lewin, Inc.'s Pasadena office was the structural engineer of record for this ten-story acute care hospital wing as well as dozens of other OSHPD regulated projects in Southern California.
Hohbach-Lewin has completed multiple projects at the Stanford University Medical Center, many involving the remodel of suites within the existing buildings. Services included the careful reconnaissance of existing conditions, detailed drawings with supporting calculations of structural modifications to the existing buildings and bracing and anchorage of medical equipment and gaining OSHPD approval.
Hohbach-Lewin, Inc. and Barker Associates had completed the design, and now Devcon Construction has begun construction of this new $20M expansion to the Mountain View Villa Siena Senior Housing Facility and Central Plant. The expansion includes a new 65,000 SF two-story, wood framed assisted Living Center, a 20,000 SF 30-bed Skilled Nursing Facility and a new Central Plant which will ultimately service the entire campus. Both the Skilled Nursing Facility and the Central Plant are under the jurisdiction of OSHPD; the Assisted Living Facility is regulated by the city of Mountain View building department. The new Assisted Living Center includes the first floor cafeteria dining and a basement level that houses both a full service kitchen and large laundry facility.
